The Studio:

The recording studio is at the core of the integrated operation at Hereford, linking songwriters and musicians with producers engineers and arrangers.
Finished product is of broadcast and commercial distribution standard.

There are two principal rooms, plus the control room. Air conditioning is available throughout.

Studio 1 is fully soundproofed and ideal for recording, rehearsing and tracking individual instruments.
Studio 2 is soundproofed and excellent for additional instrumentation and small scale acoustic recording, together with all pre production of material. The studio was designed and built to professional specifications by Arron Rudge, and is under the control of Pete himself, helped by six trainee studio engineers.

Many name and semi name bands have used the studio since opening in 2005, including Thunderclap  and Midlands jazzers RPM. Pete Goodall uses it extensively for his own recordings – he is completing an acoustic album which can be found on the Speakeasy Recordings section.

Recording

As well as catering for an international market one of the principal aims of Hereford Music is the recording of local and regional talent, particularly young bands and writers.
Resident producer / arranger Pete Goodall is dedicated to the learning needs and production of aspiring writers and musicians, and has devised a four stage plan for producing and recording existing groups.

This consists of:

1. An initial “run through” of a group, recorded in the studio or on location.
2. Comments and suggestions in preparation for full recording.
3. Further pre-recording sessions to ensure that the group is fully prepared
4. Full recording.

Where a singer /songwriter wishes to be produced, stage one is prefaced by selection and arranging material. Wherever possible individual local musicians will be used for recording; thus Hereford will create its own “session musicians” able to accompany any format of music.
Studio rates are therefore variable according to the needs of musicians, and will be quoted on an individual basis, according to the number of stages required to produce a product for distribution or local use.
